Palate Kitchen
Ceperley Rounsfell Building was built in 1921. In 2011 the whole building was restored and incorporated into the Jameson House high-rise by the first-class international firm Foster and Partners.
When we first approached the space, future home of Palate Kitchen, in 2019, we were stunned by the beauty of the space which we wanted to preserve and enhance. We let the building speaks through its white walls and flooring, its high ceilings and amazing skylights, its original stucco decorations and moldings.
We wanted to keep the authentic atmosphere while at once creating something new and contemporary reflecting the innovative dining concept Palate Kitchen wanted to deliver to Vancouver.
Bold and playful colors, textures, layers and volumes develop the narrative within the space to celebrate the original building.
Entering from the narrow street front customers find themselves in an unexpected big and bright open space. The restaurant welcomes you with warm wood tones, brass elements and green accents. The open view kitchen and bar run parallel with the space where the prolonged counter represents the focus of the composition. The two mezzanines offer a relaxed atmosphere infused with natural light and featured sage green painted walls.
